Everybody has its own opinion, and you should think with your own brain

Somehow if you're reading my posts every now and then it's because you're at least a bit interested into knowing what I think. And that's exactly why I also read other people's blogs and listen to some podcasts.
Lately I'm mainly listening to the podcast from Jared Polin, a.k.a. "the Fro" from FroKnowsPhoto.
I honestly really admire him for the way he managed to build up a brand and a whole business around his interest - photography - with the sole aid of his own skills, energy and positive attitude. I also think he's really entertaining - just check up some of his videos on YouTube and you'll understand what I'm saying - and he really knows what he's talking about: his reviews on photo items are very clear, based on solid knowledge, expertise and experience.
On the other hand, sometimes, I don't completely agree with what he says and with his suggestions: I want to be clear, this is not an attack to Jared and all his work, it's just that I want to pick up a subject he talked about lately for this post.
In one of his last "RAWTalks" he answered a question concerning what gear he takes along when he goes on a vacation trip. Please note that he's a professional photographer that uses his photo gear for work all year around, so not just "on vacation" like the majority of the amateurs.
Well, believe it or not, the answer sounded like: "I don't bring along my professional photo gear on vacation, I just have an iPhone if I need to snap a shot on the way".

This actually just shuttered me: Jared is always suggestion to shot RAW - and I couldn't agree more on this point -, so how can he say that he doesn't bring along any kind of "serious" gear on a vacation trip?

And here comes my suggestion - that I personally followed and will keep following - for when you're looking for your new gear: buy something you'll use at least 99% of the time you take a picture!
I bought a Nikon D3200 mainly for an economical reason but in the end I realized that it's small body and extremely lightweight (compared to bigger cameras like the D5300 and D7100, or the Full-frame family) make it more than suitable for being carried around all the time!
It doesn't matter what, if it's a weekend break, a week of holiday or just a walk in the center, I bring along my camera if I want to take pictures! If you, like me, are not a professional photographer you definitely don't have too much time to shoot during your working week, and vacations/weekends are the only moments when you have some time to dedicate to your camera and your passion! So bring your camera along all the time! Maybe reduce a bit the number of lenses in your bag to not brake your back, but do not end up shooting vacation pictures with your smartphone having thousand of euro/pounds/dollars in photo gear sitting at home!

If I did that, I couldn't ever take pictures like these while simply walking around in the center on a lazy Sunday afternoon

Don't you agree with me? Or do you prefer to leave your camera sitting in a bag at home while you're exploring the world?
