Jelousy, but also a lot of couriosity

The winter Olympic Games 2014 are now just a week ahead, and one of the photographer I'm continuously following has been accredited as the official photographer for the US Men and Women's Ice Hockey teams! Who am I talking about? Obviously Jeff Cable!

I've to be honest, I think I started following Cable no more than 6-7 months ago after watching a video on youtube he made for B&H, and since then I've digged down a bit in his previous works: he mainly shoots bar mitzvah and weddings but, of course, he's definitely talented at freezing the key-moments during sport events.
What I really like of him is that somehow he built himself as a photographer on the side of his working activity at Lexar, he learned how to shoot and how to improve himself almost completely on his own (as he said in a recent interview), and he constructed all his commercial/advertising activity on the sole and solid basis of his pictures. This actually leads me to another consideration: the photography industry is something extremely particular, and nowadays it also seems more based on appearance and advertising than on the real content, pictures.
I was watching and listening to this Karl Taylor's interview, and he pointed out how so many photographers are now advertising their services, courses and expertise on the internet and social media even without giving the bare proof of their skills and talent as photographers! I must say that, for what it concerns me, both Jeff Cable and Karl Taylor have definitely proved their talent as photographer!

Getting back to the main subject, yes, I'm jealous. In this period I'm jealous of Mr Cable who has the possibility to attend the Olympic Games in Sochi as a full accredited photographer, having to work hard - obviously - to meet the requirements of his contract with US Ice Hockey Team, but also having the chance to take part to such a great event, being on the spot and so close to the action for two full weeks of winter sport at its highest peak!
And I am also curious because, luckily for us, Jeff Cable will report what he does and what is going on in Sochi on his blog on a daily basis!
So the countdown to the Olympic Games is now at the last beats, let the show start!
