Here we are with the second part of the Bali trip photo-story.
While still staying on the East side of the island, we went exploring around a bit. It's impossible to avoid noticing the merge and integration of Balinese culture with the Hindu religion. At any corner street or in any private garden you could find a temple. The the most characteristic ones were a bit outside the main populated centres.
Even if I asked several times to several people, I still didn't completely get when and how ceremonies are arranged... as a very general idea I got that each family and casta has specific ceremonies during the year. More or less big ceremonies twice a year and more private ones once or twice a month.
On the other hand individuals go to temples whenever they need or feel like, and bring symbolic offers.
While driving towards the so called Mother Temple we encountered a first bunch of terrace rice fields
The Mother Temple itself was kind of impressive, but the over-exploited-tourist-trap feeling was simply destroying it all.
It's more than understandable that tourists are seen as a revenue source in those places, but at a certain moment you felt like starting any interaction with a no thank you instead of the usual hello...
Still it quite really impressive to see and witness the locals' religious devotion also during normal days and not only for specific major occasions
Don't worry, there is still quite some of Bali to write, but that's for another day.
