Have you been wondering where I was during the last weeks?
Probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway!
I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Bali, and on the way back to Europe even a couple of nights in Singapore. A good combination of running around on the Indonesian island trying to absorb as much as possible of their culture and and witnessing a reality that is way far different from what we are used in the west side of the planet and pure relaxation in infinity pools on the ocean shore... but one step at the time! Let's start from the beginning.
After two flights and a car transfer on Bali - for a total of 23 non-stop travelling hours - we reached the east Balinese coast, just outside Karangasem. Jet-lag hasn't ever been a real problem, but after the long journey it was really nice and comforting to discover that all that effort was more than worth!
We were lodged in a quite small resort, were relaxation, good food and warm welcoming from the staff were simply the top! All the meals were mostly prepared with fruits and vegetables harvested directly in the resort garden, and all around were beautiful and colourful tropical flowers.
Thanks to the limited size of the resort - and indeed the naturally limited number of guests - it was almost like having a quite big private pool for all the days spent in there!
Very close by was a very nice water palace - Taman Soekasada Ujung - were we went for a quick visit one afternoon.
No matter where you were looking, you could always find some funny faces around!
Before leaving the East cost, we went around a bit more visiting some Hindu temples, another water palace and rice fields... but that's the story for another day!
