Why I'm wishing for a tripod for Xmas

Ok, ok, I know it, it's not even Thanksgiving day and I'm already talking about Xmas presents....
but yes, I am!

An here is the motivation:

Let's not talk about the composition itself: it's just the moon, nothing but the moon, in the middle of the frame. The problem is that I can use the gear I have, and in this case it was my very modest 55-200mm on the D3200, hold with my bare hands: not so bad in the end, but even if the zoom has vibration reduction and the shutter speed was way faster than the thumb rule 1/"lens length", when the subject is so bright and the background very dark, the minimum shake is more than visible....

Being completely honest, I want a tripod because I've quite several potential long exposure shots I want to do and a tripod is the minimum requirement.

Until then I'll keep shooting the best I can with what I have

And you, did you already write your list to Santa?

Quick news: another trip to Italy and a longer one to Sweden soon, so stay tuned!
