I just got back from what it was my first part of the summer vacations that, as tradition claims, I spent in Sweden.
Without counting the unforeseen air traffic problems that brought me to Frankfurt for a nice short night in the Ramada Mikado hotel, I was away just for a bit more than 10 days but I managed anyway to shoot something like 500 pictures! Obviously only a small part of them were keepers, and I won't bother you with all of them, but I definitely have enough material for this and next week posts.
Today's set of pictures is for the magnificent sky of Mullsjö at dawn and later on in the night.
One day we went of a short after-dinner walk around the lake in Mullsjö and I obviously brought with me my camera and tripod. Just few minutes after the sunset - roughly around 23:00! - this was the game of colors made by the sky and the lake
Going on few hundreds of meters we reached a dock, and with the sun slowly going even more down behind the horizon, I had the perfect situation for taking what I personal consider the best picture of this trip
With the time passing by and the night approaching, the sky turned out almost like if it was painted with crayons or water colors. I took this picture with the idea of creating a paperboard bookmark... let's see if I will actually find the inspiration to do so!
Being so high up in the north summer nights are quite short, so there is not too much time to set up all the gear for stars shots. On the other hand, being immerse in the nature and far away from big cities there's not light noise around. During a particularly clear and moon-less night I managed to take these pictures just before going to bed.
Practically the sun never really goes away from the sky, leaving this deep blue instead of the "usual" black.
Clean night sky pictures are really characteristic and charming, but I personally prefer to have something in the foreground framing the scene, don't you think so too?
As I said this is just the first of a series of posts on the Swedish summer vacation, more to come!
