A candies afternoon in Gränna

Sweden might be all salmons, herrings, elks and red horses, but you can't forget candies!
Any food store, grocery or even petrol station in Sweden has a fully dedicated candies department, and I can't really complain about it! In addition to the "commercial" candies that you can find anywhere in Sweden - and some of them actually even outside Sweden - there are a lot of regional and local varieties still produced in a manual traditional way. During the last trip I had the occasion to spend few hours in Gränna where they produce the red and white polkagris.
Gränna itself is a very cute village not far from Jönköping that attracts thousands of tourists looking for some sweets and a niice summer feeling on the eastern shores of the lake Vättern.
On the main street there are dozens of candy producers and stores that invite customers with funny trolls and bears on their doorstep

Once you step into one of those stores there is simply no chance that you don't feel the urge for some sugar!
In one of those stores they even had a window overlooking the production area
From the sugar melting process all the way to the paper wrapping, the all production is rigorously carried on by hand
And after seeing how they produce them, how can you resist to all those nicely wrapped and shiny candies on the shelf?
