Is it colorful enough?

Almost all the professional photographers I follow on the internet have some kind of photo-contest with prizes for the best pictures: you might recall my participation to Matt Granger's ones, that turned out with very poor results....

As it is right now there are two organized photo-contests I'm thinking about: the first one is still by Matt and involves self-portrait, while the second is by Karl Taylor and focuses on colors.
Now, the self-portrait thing doesn't really appeal me until the end, so I was focusing a bit more on the color contest. For the moment I've two potential candidates among my pictures to send. The first one has already been published here and got quite some good feedback.

The second, on the other hand, was taken almost entirely for this competition, and I must say it's just about the red color!

What do you suggest? Are they colorful enough? And which one should I send for the contest?
